~George Chapman's Will~

In the name of the Benevolent Father of all, I George Chapman of the County of Gallia Ohio do make and publish this, my last will and testament.

Item 1st. I do hereby nominate and apoint Lewis Garlic and Frank McDaniel executors of this my last will and testament hereby authorizing and empoyering them to comprommise adjust release and discharge in such manner as they may deem proper the debts and claims due me. I do also authorize and empower them to sell and dispose of all my personal property of every kind that may be left at my death at private or publick sale as they may deem best. I do also authorize and empower them to sell by private sale or in such manner upon such terms of credit or otherwise as they may think proper all of my real estate and deeds to purchases to execute acknowlede (sic) and deliver in fee simple, and out of the proceeds of the sales of my personal property and real estate to pay all my just debts.

Item 2nd. If there by any money remaining after paying all my just debts I desire one half of such remainder be given to my youngest son George M. Chapman.

Item 3rd. I give and devise out of the other remaining half to my son A. W. Chapman my oldest son five dollar. Said devise being made with a view to favor heretofore extended to said A. W. Chapman in paying debts for him and in giving him the use of certain lands without charging him rent for the same having the use of said land for a term of about 16 yer terminating on March first A. D. 1882.

Item 4th. I give and devise to my two grandsons heirs to my second son William M. Chapman three dollars each to be paid out of the remainder of my estate after paying my debts.

Item 5th. I give and devise to my two daughters Elizabeth Lewis and Jane A. Falkner in equal parts the remainder of my estate after paying all my just debts and the secon (sic) third and fourth Items or devises above named.

In testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 15th day of March in the year 1882.
